The disappearance of Mary Rothmann

In 1936, in a turbulent England, a young woman decides to disappear by faking her death. Her husband and close friends believe she was beaten to death during the fascist Blackshirt march led by Sir Oswald Ernald Mosley. During the demonstration, she suffers an unexpected accident and, while dying, is rescued by a communist fanatic who invites her to join the International Brigades to fight against the National rebels led by General Francisco Franco in the recently started Spanish Civil War. After the civil war ended, the Francoists began suppressing opponents of the Second Spanish Republic. Mary and her lover Lloyd emigrated to France to escape danger. A love story set in the trenches that reveals the horrors of the civil war and the intense hatred that was unleashed between brothers. This book honors the memory of those war heroes who lost their lives fighting for freedom and social justice in Spain.
