Ever felt like the child who is frustrated to the point of tears? Have you ever started a work and then felt as though you’ve hit a roadblock, can’t move forward, or you’ve just run out of gas? Have you ever felt like just giving up because no matter how hard you work, that mound of rubble before you just doesn’t seem to move? If that describes you, I have good news for you. It doesn’t have to be that way. There is a way to work, God’s way, that can transform a mound of rubble of futility into a meaningful rewarding solid work of God. If you are interested in the work of God, in ministry, in doing it the right way, according to God’s will, then the book of Zechariah is worth your study. Now, don’t be scared away by the word “ministry.” “Ministry” simply means service. Ministry is work done for the LORD. Anything we do can become “ministry” if we do it for the LORD. That is an important truth to grasp because when we do what we do for the LORD, it yields a joyful satisfaction as well as deposits dividends in heaven. But more importantly, “ministry” is the way we express our thanks and appreciation to God for His many blessings. God has a plan. He has a work He wants to do in you and through you. But for His work to be done in and through you, you need to proceed according to His plan. The book of Zechariah is all about the work of God, who He uses, how He does the work, how He doesn’t want the work to be done, why He wants His work done His way and what is the purpose of His work. Let me explain with a word of personal testimony. The book of Zechariah changed my life. Well, that is not a completely accurate statement. God changes lives, and He changed my life. But He used the Old Testament book of Zechariah to change me. I believe He can and will change your life with this book too. You may respond, “I’m okay, I don’t need any changing.” If you say that, you’re missing out on a great work God wants to do with you.
