Great writing great narrative

Great Story. Awful Natrator

I love JT Ellison, I've either read or listened to every single one of her books. The narrator chosen for this one was a huge miss, though. Her voice sounds like she's trying desperately to have a throaty husky voice but it's unnatural and monotone. Her sentences are very staccato. Start, Stop. No flow of conversation. No enthusiasm. No "umph' that makes you get lost in the story. Her nasal passage sounds blocked like she had a cold but was on cold meds to try and help. It has been an absolute struggle to get through because how awful and elementary her narration has been. I will sort this narrator out specifically to avoid a y future books read by her.

Great addition to the series. Horrible narrator.

I was so excited for this book to come out! I love the series! The story was amazing, as usual. I also loved the addition of the short story at the end. Only downside to this audio book is the narrator. The previous books are all narrated by Joyce Bean and she does an amazing job portraying Taylor’s voice as it is explained to be. The new narrator is flat. Sometimes I didn’t notice the change from one female character to another, which was confusing. Having the narration change at this point in the series was disappointing, and left the regular characters lacking.

bring back Taylor Jackson, Baldwin, and the whole crew! loved every book! intensity, love, friendship , real life references and great crime story! thank you for such great stories!

Sad this was the last Taylor Jackson Book

Thank you to JT Ellison for making this book and making it available on Audible. I do wish the narrator that had done all the other in the series had finished this one, as she had become the voice of Taylor and all the characters.

I hope you re visit Taylor one day and Baldwin and give us an ending that ties up lose ends.

What Happened to Sam????

I absolutely love Taylor Jackson and have listened to every book. I am so disappointed and confused with this one. Please know I have NEVER given a bad review.

PROS:
1. Interesting story line.
2. The narrator speaks French very well and was likely chosen for that purpose. I get the possible reason for the abrupt change in narrators this far into a series.

CONS:
1. Even though interesting, the story felt very James Bond and was without Taylor's team.
2. The narrator changed. Joyce Bean perfectly captured all the characters, and I really struggled with this change. Gone was Taylor's husky Tennessee accent and Lincoln's sexy deep voice. Taylor and Angelie (sp?) sounded alike unless Angelie's parts were spoken with a French accent, which did not happen all the time. I kept having to rewind to figure out whose thinking was being narrated.
3. WTH happened to Sam???!! And the twins?!! And Simon?! Did I miss something? Please don't tell me it shows up in Sam's books. Gah. I am SO confused. When and why did Taylor become captain? Please do not give us another prequel down the road to explain it. I absolutely hate this giant chasm in the lives of the characters. I bought Sam's books because I was enjoying Taylor's series so much, and now I'm afraid I will regret it.
4. This is not Star Wars. All the book readers I know who follow a series fastidiously follow them in order. If we realize a book we bought is part of a series, we will stop reading, get all the other books, and read them in order. Prequels may work for movies like Star Wars, where stories stand alone on their own and prequels tie stories together, but they don't work for a book series. We get invested in the characters and their lives.
5. The bonus book at the end could have started at the beginning.
6. Taylor is just not the same without her team. I love the way Taylor's team respect her, the way they are bonded and work together so effortlessly, and the way Baldwin's cases draw Taylor in. Who doesn't love a good serial killer story? All of those things were missing.

As much as I want another Taylor Jackson book, I am too frustrated by the odd sequencing and confusion. Joyce Bean would have to narrate, and the team would have to be back together again including Sam.

Here's a thought: Write a book where Taylor wakes up in the hospital after the Pretender shot her, and all of the books that followed were just a long, bad dream. It worked for Bobby in Dallas. Why not Taylor?
