She takes the opportunity to run, knowing that his powerful crime family will kill her because she knows too much. She reaches out to her ex-boyfriend, and he offers to get her in contact with someone at his former work, but she only trusts him.

Can Alex protect Everly from her cutthroat in-laws? Will they give into their rekindled attraction? And will Everly agree to go into WITSEC even if it means leaving Alex behind forever?

While most of the stories that I review for Jenna Brant are five stars across the board, this one was a little bit drug out. I also really didn’t see the relationship build up or attraction like I have in her other books. It seemed like Everly and Alex cared for each other, but not the usual, ‘I can’t live without you’ attraction. Even near the end of the story it seemed like Everly was trying to decide whether Alex could stay with her or not. It was almost as though she had left so much behind, she just wanted to keep something from her past. The care for each other only came to light near the very end of the story. The description of the relationship between the dogs and their trainers was a beautiful bond, that was unquestionable!
