Gwenda Merriford is perfectly content—or so she keeps telling herself. Her cottage is snug, her teapot knows her taste, and her shelves are lined with remedies for other people’s small disasters. Even her cat, despite pretending not to care, makes sure Gwenda never ends the day alone.

Life feels comfortable. Predictable. Exactly as it should be.

But when winter overstays its welcome and spring forgets to turn up, a bit of old, unfinished magic starts to stir—something Gwenda thought she’d tidied away years ago. And as the days stretch on, she begins to suspect that contentment and happiness might not be quite the same thing after all.
