Resumen del Editor

A timeshift mystery. Perfect for fans of Sarah Burton, Stacey Halls, Jessie Burton and Kate Mosse.

Every family has their secrets....

Windsor, England, 2019

Amelia Prentice is recovering from the worst two years of her life. First her daughter and then her parents have died, leaving her without any surviving relatives. As she gets ready to put the family home, a vast Victorian house in Windsor, on the market, she fulfils her mother’s last request to clear out the attic, and she discovers a strange box of Victorian photographs.

The photographs are of a large estate in Pembrokeshire called Cliffside, and they feature the Attwater family. When Amelia uncovers the diaries of Osyth Attwater, she realises the family had tragedies of their own....

Pembrokeshire, Wales, 1883

Every summer the Attwater family gather at Cliffside to tell each other stories. The youngest in the house is Osyth, a dreamer and writer who waits eagerly every year for the wind chime in the garden to signal the arrival of her relatives. But her happiness is shattered when she overhears a conversation that tears her world apart.

Raised by her grandparents, she believed her mother, Eudora, had died. But it seems that may not be the case. Desperate to find out the truth, Osyth decides to unravel her family’s secrets. But what she discovers will shock her to her core....

What did Amelia’s mother want her to find out about the Attwater family? Who is Eudora, and what really happened to her?

And how is Amelia connected to it all?

The Wind Chime is an enthralling timeshift novel set between the Victorian era and the modern day: past and present entwine to create a thrilling, pause-resisting historical mystery.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Silver chimes and coral shells haunting past and present in this beautifully written novel containing echoes of Welsh fairy lore along with Victorian asylums, and a travelling circus. It's gripping with unforgettable characters." (Carol McGrath)

The Wind Chime

The story was really intriguing but got a bit complicated and confusing as the book went on. Quite good but rather long.

The Wind Chime is magical

The story caught my interest from the onset. A story of mystery, mystique, meetings and sadness, awakenings and happiness is well worth the time reading or listening. I am interested in my own genealogy and the journey of discovery in the story paralleled my own research. The author writes with sensitivity and the tale is told
by Emma Gregory who renders a magical interpretation of this wonderful story by Alexandra Walsh. I look forward to the next book!

More Twists than a High Mountain Road

It all begins so simply, with a mother's last request to her adult daughter....please empty the boxes in the attic before you prep the house for sale. In the boxes are, among other things, inexplicable photos. Curiosity stimulated, the daughter begins a winding, twisting journey that grows more complex with every chapter. This is not a who-done-it, though there are aspects of that at play. Nor is it a "gothic" novel, but it shares many aspects of that genre. This is a brilliantly put together story of life, and lives, as they are lived by characters so real you may wish that some of them were part of your own family. You will also be happy some of them are not! However, you may expect to remember to them all, and their stories, long after you have closed the book.

A Bit of a Slog

Enjoyable story. About halfway through the book I found myself fast forwarding through the Osyth parts. The "baby talk" was too much.

Best, most realistic book I’ve ever read…

I LOVE reading & books, especially the time shift historical mystery or paranormal ones, & there is not nearly enough of them! I’ve read quite a few good ones, but none have come close to The Wind Chime. I could spend all day talking about why! However, for brevity, I’ll just say this…the characters were vividly real in my mind, EVERY one of them. I felt like I knew them. Admittedly, I wished I was a part of this family! The tragedies were real. The laughter & love was real. The story & how the 2 times connected were real. I cried w sadness, relief, & happiness all in this one story. I didn’t want it to end. I’ll never forget this book, ever. Alexandra Walsh did SUCH an amazing job & wow, how she even looked into & connected it to her OWN family tree! It was just perfect in every way! Including the narration by Emma Gregory. I’d recommend this to anyone, anytime Enjoy!

Wonderful book!

I was drawn in immediately with the ancestry. The author did a fantastic job connecting the present with the past. I found myself holding my breath in anticipation at times wondering what would happen next.

I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in family history and the unseen ties that bind family together.

The ‘ol family tree

First time author for me. I like wind chimes so the title is what first caught my eye. Then I study my own family tree so there was that. Throw in the tomeshift and you have the makings of a story that I would like.
