The Russian Revolution was as red as blood. The Bolsheviks promised that they were building a new society, a workers’ paradise that would change the nature of mankind itself. What they ended up constructing was the largest prison the world had ever seen: a Union of Soviet Socialist Republics that spanned half the globe.

It was a country where people's lives meant nothing, less than nothing—and they knew it. But no matter what atrocity that the Soviets committed—the secret police, the torture chambers, the show trials, the labor camps, and the mass starvation—there was always someone in the West rushing to justify their bloodshed. For decades, it seemed perfectly obvious that the USSR wasn’t going anywhere—until it vanished from the face of the earth, gradually, and then suddenly. This is the story of the rise and fall of that evil empire, and why it is so important for the good to never give up hope. This is The White Pill.

I'm a long time follower of Michael Malice so this is not unbiased opinion.

I'll start by the only bad thing. The reading is not great, it is like the recording was done one sentence at a time and then glued piece by piece and there is no "sense of continuity" which is annoying at first but then it I've got used to it.

Everybody knows what kinds of atrocities happened in the soviet union (if not read/listen this book) but the best part of this book is how Michael portraits the unlikely "hero" that was Gorbachev. It made me realize that sometimes you can find an ally even on the enemy side. Someone just willing to accept the truth, even if it is a hard pill to swallow.

The stories in this book are mostly sad, but I will forever in my heart carry the good ones...people did amazing things for freedom and I've cried several times while listening to this book out of pain and but also huge respect.

Invaluable book

I cannot exaggerate how powerful and compelling this book is. everyone in the world should read it. I'm a grown man and I will not confess to specifics but I've never had a book inspire so many overwhelming emotions. you will not regret reading this book.

an irreplaceable spark in a world going dark

Malice’s humor makes the horrors written of in this book palatable. He recounts a history that we all need reminded of combined with an absolutely essential message of hope.

A Must Read for History and Hope

it was so hard to hear. many times my mind went to thinking this was another fiction novel like 1984 and I'd have to remind myself this REALLY happened. one of those books that need a few reads to really take in all the details.

it's a tough read but necessary!

Necessary reading for anyone who sincerely thinks the Soviet Union did a few things well. Mr. Malice provides us with excellent context.

Michael Malice has done an amazing work in this book chronicling the rise and fall of the Soviet Union and is an absolute must read or listen for everyone who was alive during the events that transpired during our lifetimes (GenX) and most certainly every single child born after the fall. History is doomed to repeat itself if it’s failings aren’t remembered and reminded.

Bravo, Mr. Malice!!!!!

An absolute must listen and read for all!
