In the twenties, it planted seeds of integration while Michigan became a hotbed of Klan activity. But black families found peace in Idlewild, a nest of tranquility surrounded by horrific, discriminatory activities to the north and south. Abby shoves headlong into trouble trying to do the right thing. Unfortunately, she isn’t sure what right is, only what it should be or could be. She wants a family, friends and serenity. She dreams integrity will prevail where oppression is common. Abby insists enlightenment and redemption can recreate a world built on justice, but she fumbles her own marriage. She can’t stop stepping into quicksand but finds strength in principles and friendships.
