For 35 years, Frankie, Linda, Kath, Brett, and Ally have met every Wednesday at the park near their homes in Palo Alto, California. Defined when they first meet by what their husbands do, the young homemakers and mothers are far removed from the Summer of Love that has enveloped most of the Bay Area in 1967. As the years roll on and their children grow, the quintet forms a writers circle to express their hopes and dreams through poems, stories, and, eventually, books. Along the way, they experience history in the making: Vietnam, the race for the moon, and a women's movement that challenges everything they have ever thought about themselves, while at the same time supporting one another through changes in their personal lives brought on by infidelity, longing, illness, failure, and success.

Good Break

This story will appeal to women who are from the Baby Boomer generation. It’s about women their friendship, their personal challenges and their triumphs through the years. I enjoyed my own nostalgic memories of the 60’s and 70’s while listening to this well narrated book! It was a touching and familiar story that was positive and left you feeling good!

Loved it!

I absolutely loved this book. I usually only listen to books while I'm at the gym but I couldn't stop listening to this one! I couldn't wait to get back to it and hated to turn it off.

This book accomplishes the right balance between humor and conflict showing each characters at their best and their worst. A book whose characters will stay with you long after you read the last page.

Uh? No.

Sorry: ridiculous storyline, predictable, shallow trying to be profound. People with real lives will listen to this and shake their heads. Can not express how much of a waste this book was. I had to read this for a book review club, thought I might have to shoot myself, I could feel my brain cells dying with the turning of every page. I thought the characters some of the most lame and pathetic personalities ever! With so many terrific books out there !? This book is embarrassing, oh my goodness(!) don't waste your time!!

Disappointing

This book is not very engaging. She has used a standard format of a group of friends, all fitting standard stereotypes and not developed the characters beyond that. Formula book.

Trite

This book was as predictable and ridiculous as the characters it portrayed. Very shallow Could not identify with a single woman in the story.
