After renowned London fashion designer Cressida Westcott loses both her home and her design house in the Blitz, she has nowhere to go but the family manor house she fled decades ago. Trite and poorly narrated

Not much to recommend this book. The story is so cliched it is mind- numbing; the characters are similarly boring and unoriginal. And the reader/narrator was pathetic. I got through to the end by skipping large chunks knowing full-well I was missing nothing important and that the end would be sadly unimaginative, which indeed it was.
