Warrior or surgeon, steel is your ally. Martial arts focus on the precise application of potentially lethal force. Surgery does the same. The power of life and death rests in the hands of both warrior and surgeon. For both, the mechanism to use this power judiciously is built into the training, as is the joining of the use of this power with the responsibility to serve. Both surgery and the martial arts act as a vehicle for personal growth, development, and introspection. There is a duality to martial arts and surgery, yin and yang, help or harm. Will we be constructive or destructive? Through practice and mastery of the martial arts and the surgical arts together, one can learn to turn self-control into a powerful weapon that can be used to create or destroy.
