Is there any drama more intense than the story of Cleopatra, Caesar, Antony, and Octavian? (Heck, the entire story of the Julio-Claudian dynasty reads like one long soap opera!) And if Shakespeare had known the details of the life of his two-thousand-mile-away contemporary Ivan the Terrible, my God, what a tragic drama he could have written! (Speaking of which, let us not forget that Macbeth is based on a true story.)

"There is no particular order to these anecdotes (except that I tried to adhere to chronology with the presidents), and no claim is made to comprehensiveness or, for that matter, importance. This is simply a collection of things I have come across over the years, things that I remembered, things with which I amused, horrified, and intrigued my students, nothing more, nothing less. Think of it as the mental junkyard of an aging History teacher."

Other readers may recognize some of these stories and may object to inaccuracies or distortions. I don't care about that either. A hilarious reminiscence of historical bloopers

This book hit me hard. It was a wonderful and witty walk through the historical entertaining facts that a history professor used to engage his students and put history into a human light. My father went to university to be a history professor, though he didn’t ultimately go into that field he never lost his love of history and I always enjoyed my discussions with him of various things I learned while listening to audiobooks. Sadly he passed suddenly this summer. I would have loved to share this book with him and all of the wonderful bits of history that you won’t find in a classroom. Listen to it, enjoy it and share it with someone you love. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Very entertaining

Filled with little known fascinating historical facts. A few I'd heard before but most are new to me. Very good narrator on this one.

I love this book!

I love odd storiesabout well-known figures being human or humorous. This book has that so many great stories about well-known figures that you totally see in a different light. If you love history or just funny add to notes in general you would love this book.
