The Visitors

On holiday in Venice retired schoolteacher, Gerald Weaver, accompanies his older friend Maurice Snow on a pilgrimage to the cemetery island of San Michele. Haunted by the loss of a former lover, a celebrated dancer whose untimely death lingers over their journey, Maurice decides to retreat to his hotel room while Gerald attempts to enjoy the city and seeks out the company of other hotel guests, including the youngest, a boy called Alessandro, who soon becomes an object of envy, and suspicion.
Set against the evocative backdrop of the Venetian lagoon, The Visitors explore themes of grief, memory, and the enduring bonds of friendship. It is also a meditation on art, love, and the ways we seek solace among the remnants of the past.
