I really enjoyed this prequel. I am in the healthcare field and I enjoyed the accuracy of the parts that involved the paramedics doing their job. So often in fictional stories you have to just ignore or overlook wrong practices but this was good. It was also interesting to see parrells regarding overcoming prejudices especially in heathcare. Many unusuals are afraid of healthcare institutions because they were experimented on, not unlike what has happened to certain people in real life. And most of all it was fun and easy to listen to. Really enjoyed the narrator. I listened to this story in one sitting, with a few coffee breaks. Definitely will be listening to the next in the series!

A Fun and "Unusual" Story

I really enjoyed this beginning look at the series. I’m definitely going to have to read the “spin-off” books! I’m going to start right now!

A Fantastic Prequel!

I loved this story and look forward to hearing/reading more. I was not anticipating the accuracy.

Surprisingly Great!

This series was recommended via social media as a fun supernatural medical tale with some comedy. I was thinking along the lines of Lost Girl, or something similar. I would like to find the recommender and send them a bill for abuse of my goodwill and innocence. I shan't make that mistake again.

The book is about an egotistical MMC vampire who goes on about how good looking, smart, and rich he is, but the question must be asked, "WHY does a 1600 year old vampire think black skinny jeans (his) and a corduroy jacket (also his) are expensive and stylish??? WHY does said vampire drive a Lexus and thinks that's a stylishly expensive car??" (don't come at me - HE'S the vampire who hasn't saved enough money to purchase a Bentley, or an Astin Martin, etc., in 1600 years, ok??)

He attempts to give, "a very expensive gift" to the paramedic who he has a crush on and is 1575 years younger than him. Said expensive gift?? A Jeep Wrangler 😳 I'm a Jeep girlie through and through (I love mine!) and if someone bought me one, I'd take it in a heartbeat, but the MMC acted like the FMC should have been verklempt and gushing with, "oh, no! For me?? It's so stylish and expensive! How could I ever accept??"

The MMC also keeps being amazed at how mature and professional this young woman is and how he hasn't had a crush on anyone like this in hundreds of years. 🙄

Apparently, according to some, the medical descriptions are accurate. IDK I'm not a medical professional and I'm trying to throw the author a bone. 🤷‍♀️

The story has potential, but needs an editor and a good friend who will be honest enough to tell him it needs work and a MMC overhaul.

The narrator did a pretty good job, props to him.

I'm hoping this book is a dud and the rest are good, but I'm not willing to risk it. If I could get a refund, I would ask for one, AND $100 fee so I can buy enough other books to scrub this one from my brain. 😭

I probably should have run this through ChatGPT with the instructions of, "give this description soft paws." I've tried to be as nice as I can and I've never given a scathing review before, so I feel bad about that, but I feel a duty to be honest & warn other readers.

Can I Get a Refund?
