Resumen del Editor

This book, now in a third edition, presents a digest of what The Urantia Book says - the gist of it, the main outlines of the story. As such The Urantia Revelation: The Structure and Meaning of the Universe Explained will serve as an introduction and guide to The Urantia Book, or as a simplified and accessible substitute for those wishing to know what was revealed in the fifth epochal revelation on planet Earth. There is hardly anything more interesting.

Good Prelude to Urantia study

I started reading/listening Urantia and quickly realized that it would not only take a really long time not only going through it once, let alone digesting the contents. So I searched for a kind of a “guide”, similar to what one would find with the “Course in Miracles”. And I found this one.

I am happy that I finally finished Malcolm Locke’s executive summary version of Urantia. Now I have the gumption to take the task of tackling the actual Urantia - armed with some fairly unbiased precepts and cognitive familiarity to the terms used in Urantia.

The Good:
I have yet to judge the fidelity of contents of summary that the Author has offered. But I am very grateful that he made available the intro to this study in a digestible manner.

The Bad:
The narration style by the author may, as some other reviews have pointed out, irritate some of the listeners (Should I say somewhat sarcastic?). I have to say, it bothered me at first to a point of considering to return the book. But once I got used to his style, it really became a non-issue.

Great Information, Poor Narration

This is a classic example of an author who wrote a great book, but should not have "tried it at home."

As one who has worked for years in voice overs, talk radio, etc., there are times to leave this kind of work to professionals who are trained and experienced in narration.

The book contains a great synopsis of the Urantia Book, but the voice inflections used by the author in narrating his own work are not only inappropriate, but detract from the value of his efforts as a writer.

All in all, I recommend the book for those who are serious about a short, synoptic view of the Urantia Book. However, I would warn you that you will have to endure a fairly poor narration performance.

Distracted...

The book is okay. I question a lot of his interpretation of the Urantia book, as this is what this purports to be. In several points of the book he seems to show a distinct racial bias and being that the actual book does not go into The social characteristics of different genetic species in an opinionated format I have to assume that those tangents are of the author personal beliefs.
The narration is not good at all. It seems he is distracted at times and extremely loose and cavalier. I questioned at times if he even took it seriously himself.
I like the book because I like the subject, Beyond that it's okay.

Mr Locke is not a performer worthy of the term

In substance The Revelation is totally worthy, however the sad attempt at reading his own writing was sometimes almost painful to bear. Mr. Locke seems to have only an elementary grasp of diction and meter. As alluded to, I very much like the subject matter but very much wish it were read by someone else.
