Resumen del Editor

Fear. It’s in each and every one of us. An inevitable component in all of our lives, like it or not. For some, it’s an almost imperceptible whisper in the back of our mind that gives us little more than a slightly uncomfortable nudge now and then. For others, it’s a virtually uncontrollable and debilitating sense of doom that grows stronger with each and every heartbeat. For most, it stays balanced somewhere in between the extremes. Yet within that spectrum, fear always maintains the capacity to teeter between rational constructive caution, and outright mindless panic. Regardless of where you may fall, you’re still on the chart somewhere. There simply isn’t anyone that fear does not affect to some degree. For those who follow paths in life that lead toward potentially dangerous situations, it’s a fact that we must not only come to grips with, but one with which we must inevitably form some type of partnership.

In The Up Side of Fear, we will examine not only the biology and psychology of fear and our bodies response to it, but a number of different ways to help move past its sometimes potentially overwhelming effects. We will meet some of the best and most experienced members of the skydiving community as they share incredibly difficult experiences in their lives, and how they, and in turn you, may learn to benefit from these pivotal moments.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"What is the nature of fear? How do people who are seemingly fearless navigate this complicated emotion? In The Upside of Fear, Dean Ricci teaches us how to use fear to our advantage: how to listen to it, evaluate it, and forge through it. He guides us through the psychology and biology of fear; proving that knowledge is power. The interwoven stories from skydiving professionals are colorful, hilarious, and wonderfully demonstrate the very real upside of this powerful emotion." - Vanessa Shirazi PhD, Neuroscience Lecturer, University of Texas at Dallas

Insightful solutions to relatable situations/emotions

As someone who relied heavily on The Lunatic Fringe to keep her headed towards the DZ all the way thru AFF and my A License, I was happy to find it on Audible from a familiar voice! Great book whether you’re a skydiver or not! We all face scary doors.
