A governess hired to take care of two small children at a country estate soon finds herself beleaguered by the shadowy apparitions of a man and a woman who once worked there.

Her charges seem angelic but seem often to be overtaken by some demonic force. She finds herself embroiled in an urgent battle to save them, throwing herself into an all-consuming battle between good and evil, life and death.
