I devoured this book—both in print and on Audible. Listening while reading helped me absorb every word, and The Truth About Trauma spoke to me on so many levels. Dr. Collins’ voice is grounded, wise, and deeply compassionate. From the first quote in the foreword (“Being wrong does not mean there is something wrong with you”), I knew this book would be different. She doesn’t just talk about trauma—she guides you through it with tools, definitions, journal reflections, and the kind of lived experience that makes you feel seen. I especially resonated with her reflections about moving to the Pacific Northwest and the way trauma can show up in our bodies and daily interactions. I learned a new word (“adroitly” 👏🏽), gained new language for my healing, and was reminded that curiosity and compassion are powerful companions. This book helped me take inventory—what I’ve healed, what I’m still working on, and what needs deeper attention. Highly recommend for anyone ready to break patterns, build resilience, and restore joy.
