Resumen del Editor

In this sequel to The Pecan Man, Eldred Mims has died in prison after serving time for a crime he did not commit. When Ora Lee Beckworth decides to set the record straight, her confession leaves Blanche Lowery's daughters, Patrice and Grace, to grapple with the aftermath of a lifetime of lies. Now the sisters must reframe everything they thought they knew about their mother, their brother, and the man they knew as Eddie.

Exceptional!

A big "thank you" to Audible for including this author's works in their "included" selections. These books have a comforting tone to them, it warms the soul. These are characters that you care deeply about, thinking of them long after the books are finished. I rate them them right up with "The Secret Life of Bees" & "The Help". Don't hesitate to download them, you too will be swept up by these very special characters.

Great sequel! It should be a movie!

The truth about grace is a well written sequel. It picks up with the death of the Pecan Man’s death. I love how well the characters are written. I could close my eyes and picture them clearly. I grew up in the south in the early 80’s and could relate to Grace the most. I also had a older sister and brother whom I adored and a single mother who worked hard. Reading this story has opened my eyes to how truly blessed I am. There where times when I was Grace age (at the time of the incident) where I could have been hurt or worse. I think back and realize this could have been my story. Thank you Jesus it is not! I absolutely loved how much Mrs. Ora Lee loved Blanche’s children as if they were hers and how all of them came together as a family. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again “ this book should be a movie!”

Well written and narrated!

Delighted to find this sequel to Pecan Man!
It brought the story full circle. The narrators made the characters seem real and I found it hard to stop listening once I had started. 5 stars!

Great sequel to a great book

Totally enjoyed the sequel to The Pecan Man. The author did a great job bringing the two story lines together and telling Grace’s side of the story as a very young tape survivor and her struggles to understand what happened to her at the age of 6. Voice artist were exceptional, they really captured the characters well.

Good read

This story gives a good hard look at so much that is true about why we do what we do...and my perspective because of my life experiences will be different than yours because you had different ones. Well written, well read and very thought provoking.

Absolutel best book about repairing broken family

While the words in this book are the truest you will ever read about helping a family member through an addiction, being able to hear from the family members as individuals-who took chances on being completely honest about their own feelings and pain experienced before AND after the secret/truth was given to them is such a true portrayal and evidence that this was a family problem. The reader had the opportunity to learn the step by step process that SHOULD be taken as well as the hurtful and harmful things people so often do in the name of 'trying to help'... What a book, what a gift to families who manage to read it... what heavy (self imposed) burdens are lifted for them all.

Intense at times

First off I normally do not like multiple narrators but it worked great in this book. I appreciated it when a new chapter was about to begin you knew who was telling their part of the story.

The story? Intense! In fact it was hard to listen to at times and I almost stopped once but there was enough mystery to keep me going. In the end I was happy I did. A story about more than one family being torn apart by one tragic event.

I feel that Ms. Selleck did a great job developing the characters and how they interacted with each other.

Wonderful read

I love the home town feel of this on and the Pecan Man. I imagine this is likely a pretty true reflection of things during this time frame. I really believe that I would enjoy a visit in Ms Ora’s front porch on a cool afternoon - just to pass the time away.
