Acerca de esta escucha

"If the courts and lawyers of this country will not do their duty, we shall watch as the victims and survivors of this man pursue justice and vindication in their own dignified and painstaking way, and at their own expense, and we shall be put to shame."

Forget Pinochet, Milosevic, Hussein, Kim Jong-il, or Gaddafi. America need look no further than its own lauded leaders for a war criminal whose offenses rival those of the most heinous dictators in recent history: Henry Kissinger.

Employing evidence based on firsthand testimony, unpublished documents, and new information uncovered by the Freedom of Information Act, and using only what would hold up in international courts of law, The Trial of Henry Kissinger outlines atrocities authorized by the former secretary of state in Indochina, Bangladesh, Chile, Cyprus, East Timor, and in the plight of the Iraqi Kurds, "including conspiracy to commit murder, kidnap, and torture".

With the precision and tenacity of a prosecutor, Hitchens offers an unrepentant portrait of a felonious diplomat who "maintained that laws were like cobwebs", and implores governments around the world, including our own, to bring him swiftly to justice.

Where does The Trial of Henry Kissinger rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As ever, Hitchens comes out swinging and holds nothing back; it helps that war criminal Kissinger providers such a large target.

Like the polemics "No One Left to Lie To" (neocon Clintons) and "The Missionary Position" (Mother Teresa), Christopher Hitchens tears down any residual public misconceptions with facts and finesse.

This book presents numerous criminal activities regarding Indochina, Bangladesh, Latin America, Cyprus, East Timor, journalist Demetracopoulos, and Kissinger's personal corporate profiteering.

Strap on your seat belts and enjoy the ride.

I always like it best when an author reads the work so I was disappointed not to get to listen to Christopher himself read his own work but it in no way detracts from this book. To read Christopher Hitchens is to hear his voice complete with his eye rolls, smiles and sneaky sarcasm laced in so finely it can be missed or slap you right in the face. I now know more, good or bad, than I ever knew about this decrepit man. After this book I’m going to go on a deep dive into Henry. There is so much this book shows us but I fear Kissinger was a bit of an iceberg where we see but a sliver above water no there is so much more out of sight. This topic will have me busy for months now. This one’s a keeper. |

A shocking view of a horrible little man

Not the easiest book to follow without extensive knowledge of the last 50 years of world events and politics. extremely insightful.

Dense

The content is classic Hitchens and a great follow-up to Isaacson’ biography of Kissinger. The performance is also solid. But the editing is woeful. Stretches are repeated, appendices are not contextualised... it is a pity.

Good book, bad editing

Just wow. great reading. a shame kissinger is almost 100 now and still won't see justice and was awarded a Nobel peace prize. crazy world. I wish the US would prosecute its own. Guys like this give the whole country a terrible image, especially if left free.

WOW

Once again I am amazed by the superb, erudite analysis and writing of Christoper Hitchens. You can't go wrong by spending time reading this book, and in fact, you will be better off if you do!

Fantastic!

it is a pity that there is no hell for Kissinger to go to. The real tragedy is that this fascist ghoul is still alive today.

Bad for my blood pressure.
