Jesus is to return in the same way He was taken into heaven. Yet, there appears to be a lull for some in the Church and in the world concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus and the promised 1,000 years rule of “the Christ” and His saints “with” Him. The world is saying the predictors of Jesus’ coming have “cried wolf” too many times and nothing has happened. Some have forgotten the “pattern” of events that Paul said must occur “first,” as outlined in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 .... As surely as John prepared the saints for the “last time” (lit., “hour”) in his days by showing them the pattern of the last hour (1 John 2:18), there is also written in the Bible a surer prophetic word or prophetic pattern for the last hour for this present evil age (2 Peter 1:19).
