Acerca de esta escucha
Brand new case, dangerous old secrets…
Charles Shilling survived his run in with the Jack of Hearts, but surviving his new partnership with the brilliant Doctor Florin is another matter entirely. He’s at a complete loss trying to comprehend where they stand, and now he’s poked his nose into a case that is far too close to home to involve her in. After everything that happened with the Jack, what he needs now is to find a way to keep Florin safe without inflaming her stubborn curiosity.
If there was one thing Amelia Florin learned from the Jack of Hearts case, it’s that Mister Shilling is absolutely terrible at watching his own back, and needs someone around to stop him from getting himself killed. Typical rogue, he doesn’t seem to think he needs the help, but… well… he’s really rather sweet, if foolhardy, and she’ll be damned if she lets him get into trouble like that again! Even if she has to pursue him all the way to France!
Can the amateur sleuths catch the thief, or will danger in Paris catch them first?
The Thief and the Marquis is the second book in the slow burn series of Shilling & Florin Mysteries. Set in an alternate and progressive universe, Shilling & Florin are on the case, trying to solve mysteries and crack the biggest puzzle of all: each other.

It's the diversity for me.
I love the whole idea of a progressive Victorian age. Women are doctors, people can love whomever they choose and God is a woman. Pair all of that with a slow-burn mystery romance and I call that a win. I can't wait for the next book.

Formidable Amateur Sleuths
I enjoyed book two as much as the first book in this series. I appreciated how Charlie Shilling thought he could solve the new case on his own, and yet, Dr. Amelia Florin knew he needed someone to guard his back. I applauded Dr. Florin's determination and ingenuity. I was entertained by all the twists and turns. I enjoyed the complexity of the mystery. I'm ready for more stories featuring these two amateur sleuths. I was entertained by Kate Haley's narration, and I felt her performance added an air of authenticity. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
