Acerca de esta escucha

A girl gives up a dream proposal to pursue her dream career. Will her dreamy boss keep her from the boy back home? Mack Henry has loved Kells Miller since she walked into his first grade class, all blonde curls and sweet, lost eyes. The last thing he expected when he got down on one knee in front of his entire family to propose to her was that she’d say no. Now, can he be patient enough to wait for Kells to realize her best place is by his side, or will he have to find a way to move on with his life without her? Kells knows what it means to lose someone you love, so maybe avoiding that pain is why she turns down the one person who has always been there for her in order to move to the big city and try to make something of herself as a journalist. Except, the only job she can find is as the assistant to virile, worldly Hugh Camden, lead counsel at a big oil firm and the last man on earth a “good girl” should find herself attracted to. At least, that’s what Kells keeps reminding herself as she struggles to figure out just what she wants from life and which path will lead her to the one place God wants her to call home. Discover what it means to believe in God’s love for you no matter how far you may have strayed from Him in this young woman’s journey of faith from the author of "Macy’s Treasure." Read an excerpt: Kells forced herself to take three, deep breaths when she finally made it to her car before pulling down the visor and studying herself in the small mirror. Her hair was even more disheveled than usual. Had he had his fingers in it? She couldn't remember. She touched her still-swollen lips. An actual kiss from Hugh Camden wasn't something she had bargained for, even though she'd all but challenged him to do it. Before allowing herself to reflect further, sitting in a parking lot where Camden might emerge any minute trying to force her back to work, she turned the ignition and pulled unsteadily out of her space. What had she been thinking to challenge him so much she brought on that reaction, whatever that was, from grouchy, non-cooperative Mr. Camden? She had been upset about Mack even before she made it to the office. And then Camden had been practically yelling orders at her. When Mack had called her on his way back home, having left because Mr. Camden had called Macy into work on her day off and she had obeyed him, Macy barely kept from totally losing it before she could get off the phone. It had taken her a while to compose herself in the empty ladies' room down the hall. She didn't like emotional confrontations. Her parents had been having one of those when her dad wrecked the car, leaving her parents dead and Kells in the hospital for more than a week. She fingered the scar on her stomach that served as a constant reminder of that wreck. Out of family pride, her only living relative, her father's mother, had taken Kells in, but she could hardly afford an elementary-aged child, in terms of money or patience. She had never been an openly affectionate person, another reason Kells avoided emotional scenes. But what had just happened wasn't particularly an emotional scene. Kells felt goose pimples as she remembered the feel of Mr. Camden's arms around her, and the tingly sensations that had sprung up all over her body from his kiss. Mack had kissed her deeply plenty of times, but she always knew she could trust him to stop before things went too far. With Mr. Camden, Kells didn't know if her reaction had been to the kiss itself or outright fear of how far her reaction to him might make her go.
