You might think a property manager at a large real estate firm might have a dull job. Let me tell you, it's not. Tenants can be some weird characters and owners not much better. I had a feeling today would not be like any other. I had just gotten off the phone with a slightly hysterical lady who wanted Peller to manage her property.

"Right now," she insisted. "You need to get over here quick before Mike kills him."

The “kills him” part warned me I should not touch this one. The business side screamed, “Go get it before she calls Sunny Side Realty or one of your other rivals.”

Naturally, I wanted that 20 percent commission. Actually I only get half of it; my broker, Lisa Lee Loren, claims the other half between her and the company owner, J. M. Peller.

Among us agents, we thought the J. M. stood for “Jesus” and “Mary” as he played the religious card to the hilt. He was a deacon in his church in Jacksonville, and wanted to give the impression he would never do anything evil.

He didn’t. He had a hatchet man, Dwight Kickum, who did the dirty work.

I enjoyed this one!Though the whole thing is implausable,it was fun. Casey Clark gets a new rental property and suspected of murder all in one week! Lee Ann Howlet was a terrific narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

Short Mystery

I did enjoy this cozy short mystery due to the character of Casey who is one tough courageous lady to go thru what she does, even changing her hair color (but wonder did she turn it back) as she investigates and murders try to find her. It was my 1st book by author and look forward to more. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

Suspenseful

Never have I been more terrified of the realtor career than I was in this book. What should’ve been a simple eviction of a stubborn tenant turns into a trip from Hell for realtor Casey.

Although a short book, the suspense was done in a very tasteful manner. Usually, I can guess where something is going to go, but that wasn’t the case with this book. Kept me on my toes right until the end!

It’s Okay

This was an okay book. It is a short mystery and because it’s short, it felt a bit rushed. Nothing new here, very predictable. I could not really get into the main character Casey. In my opinion she had no since of self preservation at all. Like some mystery novels, and far more than I would like, the heroine is often silly, usually solving the mystery by happenstance rather than using any intelligence whatsoever. Two murders, no big deal, I’ll just see what I can find out without any help or notifying anybody about what I’m doing or where I’m going.

The narrator was just okay as well. I listen to a lot of audiobooks. I have a long commute. Often, I miss out on books because there is a disconnect between the narrator and the tone of the book’s characters. A humorous books with a dry lackluster narrator....an exciting thriller with a slow monotone narrator.....an adult novel with a narrator that sounds like a teenager. Unfortunately, this book suffers from that sort of disconnection. I may have enjoyed it more if the narrator didn’t sound bored.

In short, it’s an okay book that will keep you somewhat entertained. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
