Othello is principally a story of jealousy and its destructive power.

Othello is a courageous general in Venice and - unusually for Shakespeare - a Moor with a black complexion. Although aware that he is a jealous character, and even though he truly loves the fair Desdemona, he is willing to be persuaded by his clever and envious ensign, Iago, that she is being unfaithful to him. It is a true tragedy, which is clearly captured in this telling of the story.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I love Shakespeare, and I love the play Othello, but this Audible version is a joke that is not funny. It is NOT the play; it is only some surface-summary-book-report reading of the overall story. Absolutely useless.

Would you ever listen to anything by William Shakespeare again?

I would love to actually listen to something by Shakespeare rather than this overpriced poppycock of an "audiobook."

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ghizela Rowe?

Anyone who could read the actual play.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No. It is not the full play.

Any additional comments?

Never buying anything of this version ever again. Who wants to hear a summary of the play? I can go to Sparknotes for that. Geez.

The Audible version is NOT the full-length play!
