Resumen del Editor

It’s 1942 in Nazi-occupied Paris.

Mori Rothstein, an art dealer and expert in master paintings from Rococo to Realism, has been sought after for his expertise, by every major museum in the world. Also seeking his knowledge is Reichmarshall Hermann Goering.

As his friends and fellow Jews disappear one by one, Mori struggles to protect his family by cooperating with the Germans to catalog stolen paintings for the Fuhrer’s museum. Mori is neither a prisoner nor free man, as he forges a questionable friendship with one of the most notorious Nazis in Europe - his fidelity and morals tested daily.

He creates a plan to rescue some of the greatest paintings of all time.

Against the backdrop of the world’s most treasured art, Mori’s once-charmed life transforms into a web of intrigue, kidnapping, and murder.

Good but could have been better

A solid enough historical fiction novel with a unique approach to providing insight into Nazis occupied Paris and the impact on innocent lives all wrapped up in a suspenseful thriller. I selected it for one of my favorite narrators, Nicholas Guy Smith, who was excellent. However, while the “ending” was satisfying, the epilogue was disappointing. It was a missed opportunity as it could have gone in so many different/better and more substantial directions. Still a worthy listen……

Intriguing, hard to put down.

Believable story of a family caught by the Nazi invasion. I wish the author had indicated who were actual historical figures. Some are obvious. Was this based after a particular family??

Great narration let down by the writing

Tje facts are real but the style is too predictable and takes out the suspense. An excellent plot but I couldn’t get past half way. The narrator however did his best.

Fantastic Read & an even better Listen

In short, I loved this book for many reasons. The author obviously knows about Art & Paris and researched the Nazi occupation and the theft of art owned by the Jewish people, and the destruction of art the Nazis deemed degenerate. Historical drama is my genre but I’m not usually drawn to this specific subject matter because I find it depressing, so I’m not sure what drew me to download it from Amazon to read , it just spoke to me, & I’m glad I did. The writer shows great sensitivity and romance in his character development except, of course, for those who are unworthy. I couldn’t wait for it to come to Audible and snapped it up immediately and I loved the read but the narrator brought it to life way better than my imagination. I’m looking forward to the sequel, so please hurry Mr. Grubman!

Wonderful Story- Terrific Suspense Novel

I loved this book. Set in Paris in 1942 during the German occupation, it tells the story of one family‘s efforts to save the great works of art being stolen by the Nazis. Fast- paced page turner.
