What is life if not filled with questions? There was a time you took for granted the trustworthiness of the answers you got from the government, the media, religion, subject experts, and friends and family. But, with the massive erosion of public trust in every major institution, like most people, you’ve been forced to rely on your own problem-solving and critical thinking faculties.

You see this, and then you look at the stone busts of Stoicism’s leading proponents: Seneca, Epictetus, Marcus Aurelius. All seem dour and foreboding. They may have been stern-faced gentlemen, but the fact remains, many who have incorporated Stoicism into their daily lives report that they can face life’s challenges with greater equanimity. Your Daily Dose of Stoic Wisdom is a 30-day guide to practicing the foundational tenets of Stoicism. Without being a primer on Stoic philosophy, the book is here to help you integrate its basic principles into your everyday experiences.

Modern work life is a maze, but you can find a shortcut through it. We are spending longer hours at work, although we desire more work-life balance. According to the World Population Review, the 10 countries with the longest workweeks averaged 42.2 hours. Given how much time you spend at work, wouldn’t it be better if you could be more efficient at your job? The Harvard Business Review says that workers spend as much as 41 percent of the average workday on tasks that don’t add value. Modern work poses its challenges.

Why do employers judge candidates on the first impression they make, even though they know it’s wrong and often misleading? Why do people smoke, drink to excess, and eat things they know are bad for them? How do normally intelligent people wind up believing fake news stories? To find out, let’s take a trip back in time to Victorian England. A famous story from the Victorian days is that women had to wear corsets. It’s debated how commonplace corsets actually were, but they squeezed a woman’s body like a snake - making the waist look smaller.

Resumen del Editor
We all want to be kinder and thankful for what we have. We all aspire to be happier, more successful, and free of negative emotions. All we need to achieve our goals is a philosophy of life. Enter Stoicism.
What takes someone from good to great?
This question has haunted humanity for millennia, engaging the most learned and well-regarded people in finding its answer.
Today, we believe that the difference between failure and success, from average to elite, from deadbeat dropout to CEO, is the mentality.
It might sound like an easy answer, but a healthy mentality requires constant work, just like happiness and all the good things in life.
To help you achieve that wholesome mentality that takes you from good to great, we analyzed three of the greatest philosophers and broke down their observations on human nature, mentality, and happiness.
Seneca. Epictetus. Marcus Aurelius. Before these men became history’s greatest philosophers, they had insecurities just like you.
We’ve studied their lives, we’ve researched their teachings and philosophies of life, and we’ve extracted key concepts and actionable information for you to better digest Stoicism.
Here’s a bit of what you’ll get in this book:
- How a lottery winner could’ve saved $113,000,000 by heeding the teachings of Seneca on prosperity
- A crucial lesson Lance Armstrong learned from the Stoics, and how you can apply it to meet your goals
- How to find empowerment in the challenges you face and overcome the barriers you encounter (Hint: Your teachers are Seneca and the founder of No Barriers)
- What it takes to accept what you cannot control and take charge of what you can control (mastering this will change your outlook on life)
- The philosophical difference that made Joan of Arc a hero and martyr, and how you can embody her perspective for that beneficial change you want in your life
- The Stoic cure to procrastination, and how self-love saves us from feelings of inadequacy, insecurity, and lack of self-confidence
- Prince William’s way of putting himself into somebody else’s shoes to better understand life and what we can all learn from his experience
- How to emulate Stephen Hawking and Marcus Aurelius’ views to “live the life of the mind” (side effects: increased focus, tranquility, and kindness)
- And much, much more!
You can do all the right things, check all the right boxes, cross every T and dot every I in life. Still, without the right mentality for success, you’ll cap out.
On the other hand, Stoic principles can take you anywhere.
Just ask Angel Cruz, who after a series of arrests and criminal convictions, internalized a principle of Marcus Aurelius’: We are responsible for our own virtue.
In prison, he began studying the law, appealed his own case, and was granted clemency. Today he runs his own legal practice and is a candidate for civil court judge.
Such a transformation is possible only with the right mindset.
That’s why we’ve distilled the greatest philosophers in history down to the essentials for you.
This book is full of actionable Stoic principles applicable to your professional and personal life.
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Historia
These days, no one in America feels immune to violence. But now, in this extraordinary, groundbreaking book, the nation's leading expert on predicting violent behavior unlocks the puzzle of human violence and shows that, like every creature on earth, we have within us the ability to predict the harm others might do us and get out of its way. Contrary to popular myth, human violence almost always has a discernible motive and is preceded by clear warning signs.

Based on seven years of ground-breaking research and hundreds of interviews, I Thought It Was Just Me shines a long-overdue light on an important truth: Our imperfections are what connect us to each other and to our humanity. Our vulnerabilities are not weaknesses; they are powerful reminders to keep our hearts and minds open to the reality that we're all in this together.

Models is the first book ever written on seduction as an emotional process rather than a logical one, a process of connecting with women rather than impressing them. It's the most mature and honest guide on how a man can attract women without faking behavior, without lying and without emulating others. A game-changer.

Good coverage of the topic
I received a free copy of this audiobook for an honest review. This is a good work, it has coverage of the life and history with the philosopher’s thoughts interlaced. Then there is a follow up chapter going deeper into the philosophy. The author included references so you can look back to the sources if you want to dive in further. Well worth the time to read.

Philosophy Made Palatable
This audiobook is a must-listen for anyone seeking to understand and embrace Stoicism. The narrator's voice is clear and resonant, making complex philosophical concepts easily digestible. The flaw I noticed is that the pacing could be a bit slow at times, especially for listeners who are already familiar with the basics of Stoicism. However, the depth of the content more than compensates for this minor issue.
