When true crime author Emily Fox invites a celebrity defense lawyer to speak to her writing class, the day takes a chilling turn. After a heated confrontation during the lecture and a suspicious fellow diner hiding behind a laptop during lunch, the day goes downhill fast when the attorney collapses in a ski gondola and doesn’t survive. Emily suspects this wasn’t an accident and guilt over bringing the victim to town nudges her to investigate. As she digs through the victim’s soon to be released tell-all, Emily uncovers witness tampering, embezzlement, and botched court cases leaving a long trail of suspects with motives.
