This book seemed at first to be a disaster story about an avalanche that buries a small village, but it developed into so much more, including a disquisition on the meaning of "justice," and an exploration of the question, "Is true justice even possible in the human realm?"

No spoilers, but I was unexpectedly moved, by both story and narration, and would definitely recommend this audiobook to anyone who's interested in page-turning historical-literary fiction that transports you to other worlds and ways of seeing.

Deeply immersive & moving story, brilliantly told!
