As many children tend to do, each of the “Annies” has her favorite color. The story uses these preferences to build suspense and humor. The illustrator, Linda Buckley, has made skillful use of the vibrant colors of the color wheel, including primary, secondary and complementary colors. The resulting children’s picture book is both entertaining and educational. The author and the illustrator are educators who grew up in South Brunswick, New Jersey and now live in rural New Hampshire. Mrs. Costa grew up in a large family of seven children, four of them girls, and Mrs. Buckley is the mother of six adventurous girls of her own.
