Victoria, genteelly raised as an only child in Savannah, Georgia, discovers through genetic testing that her mother, who has died of breast cancer, is not her biological mother. When she learns that her father is a crook, and worse yet, in cahoots with her fiancé, she leaves Savannah to seek out her sister and get answers.

As they begin to look into the old case, unexpected roadblocks only make them dig in their heels. Their quest takes them to Las Vegas, scene of the bust, and into the hinterland of Nevada, where they believe their birth parents live. When their investigation threatens to expose dark secrets, some very influential people want to silence them . . . permanently.
