Confronted by mystery wrapped in shroud, what can be trusted?

I usually write a sentence or two summary, but the author's own book description is more perfect than I could hope to craft. Set in a grim keep, a handful of devoted knights must determine what to do with the entity they have captured. It speaks to them, but does it tell truth, lies, or something else. A tense exchange between faith and unknown. Will faith have the strength to overcome its opponent, or will its power wane? The story contains thought-provoking dialogue and situations with dire consequences. Narrated with ease by Tony Deurmier, who gives each character their own distinctive voice. Had me sitting on the edge of of the couch

First I really liked the Narrator the voice fit the book.

This is not my typical kind of book, but I really sat listening all the way trough, You wanted every detail. This was is a great novella and I recommend this audiobook!

Intriguing listen with twists and turns! Plus excellent narration!

I really enjoyed The Silence by David Adams.

It’s a shorter listen, about four hours, so the first few chapters do carry a lot of information, but that’s honestly to be expected. You can tell the author needed to establish the characters, setting, and stakes quickly, and I think it was handled really well.

Overall, the writing is strong and the pacing is solid. There are plenty of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, and it genuinely kept me on my toes.

The vibe is very much a darker, military-leaning epic fantasy or horror genre, and the narrator did an excellent job. There was real depth and diversity in the voices, I could always tell who was speaking, which makes such a difference in audiobooks.

Truly a good listen and a quick, satisfying read/listen!!

Well written. keeps the readers attention.

this is not my preferred genre. but a good reads, is a good reads non the less. the story is intriguing and, for the most part, keeps you interested. I like the story, time in which it is set and the characters are relatable and well fleshed out threw the story line, which is what I prefer. this reads, to me, not exactly like, but close too a more suspenseful style horror, say , edger Allen poe. the stuff Vincent price would produce or early stephen king under his previouse sir name and the Dragons eye book he wrote.. it has thought and balance, not jump scare gore reactive writting. over all I liked the book. the audio? im on the fence. tho the narrator did an excellent job, wonderful voice and gave all characters there own voice and personalities. It didnt seem to me that he enjoyed this genre enough to feel it. im a ferm believer, that if you choose to voice a book you need to understand the genre as well as what the written is trying to get across to the reader. the narrator was good but, to me, it lacked something. overall. if this is your genre of choice. this book is for you. amazing detail, extremely descriptive and the written truly knows how to bring this genre across to the reader. good job. and I look forward to the next adventure in the series. thank you

Definitely recommend!

My only complaint is I wish it was longer! I caught myself holding my breath a few times in suspense. Definitely recommend. I listened on audible and read along on my kindle and I must say I really enjoyed the narration. I’ll be following the author for more!
