Acerca de esta escucha

Fans of the Patrick O’Brian Aubrey/Maturin stories, or the Horatio Hornblower works by C.S. Forester will love gay-youth author, Cade Jay Hathaway’s Rian and Mouse seagoing novels. Beginning with The Ship’s Boy, life in the British Royal Navy during the Napoleonic wars is depicted in these enjoyable and relatable sea stories. Told against the historical backdrop of naval life in 1807, The Ship’s Boy is as exciting as a white-knuckle trip around the Horn down in the roaring 40’s.

Adrian 'Rian' Pembroke is a lad of thirteen years sailing with his family as a passenger aboard the tired Royal Navy frigate, HMS Urial on a workaday cartography voyage. While unknowingly sailing in the shadow of Napoleon's infamous Majesteux, the first-rate warrior under the command of Capitaine Nicolas Barbier, the notorious Frenchman is determined to sink or capture his prey at any cost and Rian and his newfound friend and shipmate, Mouse barely escape with their lives.

They soon learn of Napoleon Bonaparte’s plot to destroy the British fleet by his implementation of a massive false-flag operation, this in concert with a scheming clan of Whitehall Admiralty turncoats. Rian, born into Britain's upper class, eschews his birthright in exchange for a life at sea where secrets and treachery abound.

Set sail with Rian and Mouse as they discover a cynical world where government corruption forces them to take a stand against those who would ever harm England. And experience the fear young Rian Pembroke and Mouse must face when they discover a shared secret that, were it ever to come to light, would lead them both to the hangman's noose.
