The Sharter delivers! Great topic,excellent story!

Thoroughly enjoyed this one. As a fan of old school hip-hop, & seeing what rap culture has become, it is embarrassing. This book follows a group of buddies (& their inter-connected web of friends & mutual acquaintances) as they dive head 1st into hip-hop hypnosis - some deeper than others. From drug gun-play in any-ghetto USA, to sacrificing for the label, to humiliation ritual imposing record execs., & private prison owners, to seeing just how dark & gritty things can & do get in the industry, behind the velvet rope. The Sharter hits all marks for the sophisticated truther with ghetto tendencies. Highly recommend!

The non stop jabs at the subculture

Super funny, coherent story, multiple storylines, all well developed. Highly recommend this audio, as the author reads it and it just adds to the hilarity and message.

Absolutely hilarious

The audiobook had me laughing out loud constantly while on my roadtrip. And it’s a great analysis of the issues around rap culture. I’d recommend this to anyone.

A Surreal Picaresque Masquerading As A Blistering Satire Of The Hip Hop World

The Sharter takes some commitment at the beginning, having to wade through layers of various forms of excrement as the aptly titled book refers to.

Rap and shit are a big theme. The culture comes off as morally and literally stained.

But keep paddling through the brown, River Styx of Rap and The Sharter picks up speed like a runaway subway bound for Hell.

There's dozens of characters and Alfonzo stays true to their voices throughout.

Weaving them together across multiple chapters is no easy feat.

On the audio side Alfonzo plays every character and adopts both their literary and spoken voices .

With a modicum of knowledge of today's crumbling hip hop, scene you can spot a lot of the players and at the end no one comes off exceedingly well.

There are no heroes, just people awakening from Hip Hop Hypnosis.
