Warning: some spoilers but I will try to minimize them.

I have to admit that Creature Features are not necessarily my subgenre of choice but I do like them on the occasion. I did like fact they brought a monster from the Choctaw stories and an interesting dynamic between Shampe and Bigfoot. I like they were able to get the Shampe's perspective of the events as well as the people's. I found the concept of these beings having their own culture and laws fascinating and it did help keep my attention. That being said, there were plenty of moments just felt rushed. I feel like the attacks were too brief and the tenison was not well maintained. There was one point where a character died and we are told in-between the event and the discribtion of his corpse about who he left behind. It distracted from the horror of the death and killed the mood of the scene. If that detail had been moved to after the climax of the story, it would not have been as much of a distraction. It was also a horrible decision to narrate the story using AI. It just don't have the influx of tone that really pulls in an audience.

Overall, the story is okay. It had its interesting moments but it just fell short in my eyes.

Thrilled by the story and characters. Not a huge fan of the A.I. voice but that was ok. Can't wait for the next book by this author.

Surprised and...

Great story, characters, and vision of one gone bad. I really liked it! And virtual voice was not that bad, I know inflection is a big part, but it's alot better than some I've heard. Great job Mr. Wilbanks, Godspeed!!!!

very good take on the black sheep of the squatches!

The story

Story okay but repeated and jumped around so much that it was distracting. AI had no voice inflection or emotion not easy to concentrate on due to that.

Repetitive
