More than a mere rakish wit, Oscar Wilde was also capable of writing children’s as stories tender and poignant as any. Wilde’s "The Selfish Giant" remains a monument to spiritual growth, touting the qualities of forgiveness and generosity with lyrical passion. Led by the lilting chimes of veteran children’s storyteller Cindy Hardin, Jimcin Recording’s ensemble cast delivers an animated and beguiling performance of Wilde’s classic. Each of the characters is provided a distinct voice by the varied cast: Listeners will delight in the namesake giant’s grizzled drawl, the sonorous chirping of children at play, and the anthropomorphized earthen husk of trees and flowers in the giant’s garden. Colorful roleplaying and fluid pacing ensure that young audiences will have no trouble following along.

While the Irish writer Oscar Wilde is most famous for plays like The Importance of Being Ernest and his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, he also wrote a number of wonderful and insightful children's stories. The best of these are "The Happy Prince", "The Remarkable Rocket", and "The Selfish Giant".
