The Secrets We Take With Us

About the story
Many years ago in the small mountain town of Falls City, West Virginia, a tale of the thirteen rose from the dirt in the high hills and covered an entire community in fear. While people tried living a simple life tucked away from what the rest of the country was doing, things would change without their say in ways they never imagined.
Rain, a young high school girl who was tasked with writing an inmate for a class project, would soon discover that what tales are told through the voice of others over many lost years, aren’t always as they seem.
But can she find the strength to both find the truth and offer forgiveness to the right person before time no longer grants her the ability to, or will she hold that regret for the rest of her life, as secrets seem to die when we go?
