The Sea Was Calm is a novel composed of the stories of seven characters who return in search of those marked days that, inadvertently, dramatically changed the course of their lives. As these intertwining stories suggest, we all have a day marked by our own destiny, and therefore, beyond the future, the past always awaits us. "Yes, I would like to repeat what I always say, that what matters is the future, that everything moves toward tomorrow. But the only truth is that our ultimate future is the past. We are heading there, inexorably. Until the light goes out, that mysterious light."
