Adventures in the Cinema from the sticky seats. Snippets of script, pieces of wisdom, poolside reading fun. Thoughts about movies from a former fan, working writer. Includes --, writing scary movies, sitting in the dark with a medium buttered popcorn and a large drum of Coke and re-living adventure! With brief excusions into "Why Movies (nowadays) Suck" and the making of my own childhood classic The Grandfather! (with apologies to Coppola)..Errant fragments of dreams, stuck to the floor of the neighborhood movie house like that kid's red gum to the sole of my shoe. Madness, mayhem, and ideas for a saner, more enjoyable film experience. Popcorn at the ready? Blasts open the lobby doors for film buffs, film students, anyone who loves the big screen, and of course that guy with the tan raincoat and apparently nothing else ! "This is the kind of book I would have written if people were still going to see my films and of course if i were still alive --! " - Harry Cohm D.W. Griffith walked out on this book! Louis B. Mayer cried when we told him the plot! Lights....Camera....and....Action! Many favorite movies imho are from a handful of brilliant writers, esp. at during the halcyon 60s and early 70s. William Goldman , Donald e westlake, ira levin, an explosion of talent mainly from New York, willing to experiment within classic genre. In this day and age of fast and furious 12 and Jurassic 18 we seem to have lost our ability to tell a decent character driven story. Film was an exciting prospect, walking into a theater a magical experience. Now the only thing that resonates from a trip to the theater is the buttery popcorn and the necessity to get a second job to pay for it. New Low Price!
