Three separate wishes. One twisted nightmare!

Just like Hopps Town, their humble home, Jessica Barlow, Jared Duval, and Adrian Cole are fostering dark secrets. Plagued by loss, cruelty, and physical abuse, these friends are kindred spirits, bound by anguish and elusive dreams. They’re soon to find the key to change, but any happy future will demand they face a haunting past and brave a lethal present.

Deep in the forest on the outskirts of town, aging and nearly forgotten, there stands a well from another time. Happening upon this relic, Adrian goads his companions to join him in making a wish. Soon, difficult though it is to admit, their luckless lives do seem to shift. The only problem is, the changes aren’t at all as they’d imagined. Seemingly, they’ve only left the pan to face the fire.

Should they hope to both survive and thrive, they’ll need to pool their wits and draw on mystic inner-power. Solving Hopps Town’s greatest mystery now means life or death.

I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. Aaron Hammond did great presenting this paranormal horror. He brought feels and excitement to the action.
Three high schoolers, strughling though life, find help through their friendship. An alcoholic and abusive mom. The bullying of a black gay boy. A demanding, pushing father.
They happen on a well and make wishes. Makes for an interesting read. Book 1 in a series.

This has YA feel, but still has a creepy atmosphere with mounting tension and action that makes this enjoyable for adults as well. The three main characters have so much depth, it's a stand out in the story. The way that you feel like you know, and understand, each of the three characters, who are all very different, is an absolute plus to the story and how pulled in I felt because I could feel as if I knew each of the characters and could relate to them in some way. The story builds up the tension, especially after they find the well. The story has elements that resonated with me and was a great example of be careful what you wish for. The narration was excellent, highlighting the emotions and overall feel of the story.

Great characters and a generally creepy vibe

This was my first experience with this author's work. I thought the story was entertaining, but it was a little disjointed also. Since the story featured three main characters, I figured that might explain why it jumped from one event to another and made it difficult to connect with the characters until I got to know them better. I liked the creeping horror elements which percolated throughout the story until the thrilling conclusion. I thought Aaron Hammond's narration was fine. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
