Acerca de esta escucha
For what seems like the first time in Teancum Leon’s life, things are looking good: He’s put an end to the toxic relationship with his former sex buddy, work is going well, and Jem Berger has officially decided they are best friends - in spite of Tean’s objections. Things are looking good for Jem too, although he’s not thrilled that somehow Tean has talked him into getting a real job. Everything changes, though, when Tean’s friend Hannah asks for help: She’s being followed, she tells them, and she thinks she’s might be in danger.
After Jem and Tean spend a weekend tailing Hannah, trying to catch her stalker, they make two unpleasant discoveries. First, Hannah is right that she is being followed. Second, she isn’t being stalked. She’s being watched by the police, who are interested in Hannah’s connection to a missing person investigation. And the detective in charge is none other than Ammon Young, Tean’s former friend and ex-sex buddy.
Tean and Jem’s search for the missing woman leads them to a body. The cause of death is a mystery, but one thing is clear: Someone wanted the remains destroyed. Tean believes it was homicide, and so do the police.
When Hannah is arrested for the murder, Tean and Jem must race to prove her innocence. But everyone seems to be lying, including Hannah, and she’s willing to take her secrets with her to prison - or to the grave. The answer may lie with the animal teeth marks on the victim’s remains. Good thing Jem knows a wildlife vet.

Historia
Teancum Leon, who goes by Tean, is a wildlife veterinarian. His life has settled into a holding pattern: He loves his job, he hates first dates, and he only occasionally has to deal with his neighbor Mrs. Wish’s cat-related disasters. All of that changes, though, when a man appears in his office, asking for help to find his brother. Jem is convinced that something bad has happened to Benny, and he thinks Tean might be able to help. Tean isn’t sure, but he’s willing to try. After all, Jem is charming and sweet and surprisingly vulnerable. Oh. And hot.

When Emery Hazard and his husband, John-Henry Somerset, arrive home from their honeymoon, they’re shocked (understatement of the year) to find a boy waiting for them on their doorstep. Colt, 15 and eager to pick a fight, claims to be Hazard’s son. It’s almost a relief, then, for Hazard and Somers to be called out to assist the Dore County Sheriff’s Department with what seems to be an impossible murder: a man has been found stabbed to death in a stretch of woods, and the only set of footprints in the soft ground belong to the victim.

Historia
Three years ago, Bear McKenna’s mother took off for parts unknown with her new boyfriend, leaving Bear to raise his six-year-old brother Tyson, aka the Kid. Somehow they’ve muddled through, but since he’s totally devoted to the Kid, Bear isn’t actually doing much living. With a few exceptions, he’s retreated from the world, and he’s mostly okay with that - until Otter comes home. Otter is Bear’s best friend’s older brother, and as they’ve done for their whole lives, Bear and Otter crash and collide in ways neither expect.

Auggie is starting his first year at Wroxall College. It’s a punishment, and he’s determined to make his way through the year, prove himself, and earn the right to go back home. Theo is a grad student recovering from a terrible car accident. He’s lost his husband and their daughter, and he’s trying to figure out how to keep going. Great Mix!
This story is a great mix of some beautiful writing and some awesome narration. Gregory Ashe is the master of character development. In this story we continue to learn more about Tean and Jem - their complicated lives and relationships with others - all the while waiting to see if anything happens between them. The secondary characters - not all loved - but provide the right addition to the story line. Then there is the mystery. Another master piece of trying to figure out who the real bad guy is (while guessing wrong throughout the storyline). Add in the perfect narration by J.F. Harding and these 11 hours are of pure enjoyment. Now I move on to the next story and wait for my heart to be that more invested into these men.

Amazing!!!!
Oh my! The Same Breath, Book One from The Lamb and the Lion Series was my introduction to the amazing Gregory Ashe and I am officially a fan girl! I literally shirked so many responsibilities to listen to book one pretty much non-stop because I was riveted from the beginning. I immediately did the deep dive into book two of this series and its just as good. I could not love two characters any more than I do Jem and Tean. I could not care more or be rooting more for their HEA! Gregory Ashe has created two complex lead characters who are real, flawed, believable, loveable, and unforgettable! His writing is so intelligent and compelling that I was immediately drawn into the story from the first page until the end. J. F. Harding's performance is nothing short of brilliant! He nails it!!! Do yourself a favor and listen to this series. Now I'm onto Book three waiting in my audible library...

I love Jem and Tean
Well, that’s it. I am falling for Jem and Tean hard. I just had to say it. They made me laugh in this book (How many names can Jem create for the elongated version of Tean?) , and they made me cry (Tean’s family and Jem’s Malaysian ant speech). They’re quickly becoming one of my favorite couples, even if you can’t quite call them a couple yet.
At the beginning of this book, Jem spends his time between squatting in an abandoned apartment and hanging out at Tean’s home. Jem insists, boldly, that they are the best of friends while Tean grudgingly admits to being friendly acquaintances. They are the opposites in every way but I see the way they complement each other and are helping each other grow.
Jem seems to still be pulling off small cons, and the way he adapts and comes up with things on the spot show how smart he is, and it impresses Tean. He is working through his dyslexia, though, and learning to read because he wants to be a better person, someone worthy of Tean. Tean is still smart and helpful to others. He still thinks about all the bad things that can happen with every decision he makes and how the planet is slowly heading towards ecological destruction, but he has stopped dating a married man and he tries to consider his health more.
In this book Jem and Tean set out to help one of Tean’s co-workers find out if someone is stalking her, and they end up stumbling into a police investigation in which Hannah is a person of interest. I still say that a wild-life vet and a con-man make for strange crime solvers, but since a body is found and the death is animal related, Tean’s skills are super beneficial. Add to that Jem’s quick thinking and they really do manage to solve the case. Happily there were plenty of suspects and I got to be surprised by who did it, just like the police were. Tean and Jem 2, police detectives 0, LOL!
I really liked the mystery in this book, and as far as possible romance, Jem and Tean at least acknowledge a love between them but it seems that they are still not at the place where they can be my favorite actual “couple.” There are parts of me that wonder if they will ever be able to make the transition from the best of friends to lovers, but I am rooting for them nonetheless. Adding to the intriguing mystery and the way Tean and Jem are burrowing into my heart was the excellent narration of this book. J.F. Harding does a good job emoting and bringing these characters to life.

Great story. Great narration.
I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book. The setting, characters, plot, conflict, resolution, narration, rhythm of the writing, the way difficult social issues are addressed, and probably a dozen more things I haven't considered yet. This was my idea of a perfect book. A mystery with the hints of romance, a few twists in the plot, a developing friendship, epic action moments, serious character development, and an ending that leaves me hoping for more.
Jen and Tean are an entertaining duo. J.F. Harding did a wonderful job of narrating the voices of the characters that Gregory Ashe has so artfully constructed.

I'm so glad narrator J. F. Harding reads Book 2!
How wonderful it is to revisit the Salt Lake City, Utah area and get reacquainted with Tean Leon and Jem Burger. I love that the story starts with events that demonstrate Jem's attempts, with Tean's help, to improve his life by becoming 'legitimate'. Holding a job is hard for Jem but his special skill set proves valuable when Tean's friend and colleague Hannah is certain she's being followed. Going against her family's advice, she hires Jem to discover 'the why'! This sequel is so wonderful for so many reasons. We see Tean finally able to cut loose his toxic relationship with the manipulative bisexual Ammon Young and embrace something truly wonderful--the beautifully blossoming Jem who's learning to read, to trust, to love. He comes through brilliantly in uncovering the events surrounding Hannah's stalking. Come to find out Hannah's being investigated as a link to a missing person's investigation and the murder someone desperately wants concealing.

Love these two
Gregory Ashe has done it once again.
Only criticism is that I wish he would have some more people of colour in main roles … sometime somewhere.

it's a good read, but what makes it more intriguing for me is the narrator? he makes this story so interesting. I love all the characters, all of them and I can't wait until I read the next chapter

Artwork
An excerpt from my original review: This is a stellar sequel to an already amazing series. A masterclass in the exploration of English and in the study of the human condition. If this book were a piece of artwork, I'd frame it and put it on my wall.
J.F. Harding narrates this series with the subtly and perfection he's known for, and lends such authenticity to not only the voices of the characters, but their trials, struggles, and moments of clarity as well. He IS Tean and Jem.

Lamb & Lion Series Is Ashe’s Best
So many gay mystery/romances and predictable and trite. But Ashe is a clever, imaginative writer who creates interesting, complex characters. The developing affection between to two principles feels real. Their banter is witty and sounds completely natural. It’s too bad that serious critics wouldn’t consider reviewing works in this category of fiction. If they did they might introduce more readers to this exceptionally talented writer. And Harding is the perfect reader for the audio version. Please give the first two volumes of this series a listen.
