Resumen del Editor

For what seems like the first time in Teancum Leon’s life, things are looking good: He’s put an end to the toxic relationship with his former sex buddy, work is going well, and Jem Berger has officially decided they are best friends - in spite of Tean’s objections. Things are looking good for Jem too, although he’s not thrilled that somehow Tean has talked him into getting a real job. Everything changes, though, when Tean’s friend Hannah asks for help: She’s being followed, she tells them, and she thinks she’s might be in danger.

After Jem and Tean spend a weekend tailing Hannah, trying to catch her stalker, they make two unpleasant discoveries. First, Hannah is right that she is being followed. Second, she isn’t being stalked. She’s being watched by the police, who are interested in Hannah’s connection to a missing person investigation. And the detective in charge is none other than Ammon Young, Tean’s former friend and ex-sex buddy.

Tean and Jem’s search for the missing woman leads them to a body. The cause of death is a mystery, but one thing is clear: Someone wanted the remains destroyed. Tean believes it was homicide, and so do the police.

When Hannah is arrested for the murder, Tean and Jem must race to prove her innocence. But everyone seems to be lying, including Hannah, and she’s willing to take her secrets with her to prison - or to the grave. The answer may lie with the animal teeth marks on the victim’s remains. Good thing Jem knows a wildlife vet.

Great Mix!

This story is a great mix of some beautiful writing and some awesome narration. Gregory Ashe is the master of character development. In this story we continue to learn more about Tean and Jem - their complicated lives and relationships with others - all the while waiting to see if anything happens between them. The secondary characters - not all loved - but provide the right addition to the story line. Then there is the mystery. Another master piece of trying to figure out who the real bad guy is (while guessing wrong throughout the storyline). Add in the perfect narration by J.F. Harding and these 11 hours are of pure enjoyment. Now I move on to the next story and wait for my heart to be that more invested into these men.

Amazing!!!!

Oh my! The Same Breath, Book One from The Lamb and the Lion Series was my introduction to the amazing Gregory Ashe and I am officially a fan girl! I literally shirked so many responsibilities to listen to book one pretty much non-stop because I was riveted from the beginning. I immediately did the deep dive into book two of this series and its just as good. I could not love two characters any more than I do Jem and Tean. I could not care more or be rooting more for their HEA! Gregory Ashe has created two complex lead characters who are real, flawed, believable, loveable, and unforgettable! His writing is so intelligent and compelling that I was immediately drawn into the story from the first page until the end. J. F. Harding's performance is nothing short of brilliant! He nails it!!! Do yourself a favor and listen to this series. Now I'm onto Book three waiting in my audible library...

I love Jem and Tean

Well, that’s it. I am falling for Jem and Tean hard. I just had to say it. They made me laugh in this book (How many names can Jem create for the elongated version of Tean?) , and they made me cry (Tean’s family and Jem’s Malaysian ant speech). They’re quickly becoming one of my favorite couples, even if you can’t quite call them a couple yet.

At the beginning of this book, Jem spends his time between squatting in an abandoned apartment and hanging out at Tean’s home. Jem insists, boldly, that they are the best of friends while Tean grudgingly admits to being friendly acquaintances. They are the opposites in every way but I see the way they complement each other and are helping each other grow.

Jem seems to still be pulling off small cons, and the way he adapts and comes up with things on the spot show how smart he is, and it impresses Tean. He is working through his dyslexia, though, and learning to read because he wants to be a better person, someone worthy of Tean. Tean is still smart and helpful to others. He still thinks about all the bad things that can happen with every decision he makes and how the planet is slowly heading towards ecological destruction, but he has stopped dating a married man and he tries to consider his health more.

In this book Jem and Tean set out to help one of Tean’s co-workers find out if someone is stalking her, and they end up stumbling into a police investigation in which Hannah is a person of interest. I still say that a wild-life vet and a con-man make for strange crime solvers, but since a body is found and the death is animal related, Tean’s skills are super beneficial. Add to that Jem’s quick thinking and they really do manage to solve the case. Happily there were plenty of suspects and I got to be surprised by who did it, just like the police were. Tean and Jem 2, police detectives 0, LOL!

I really liked the mystery in this book, and as far as possible romance, Jem and Tean at least acknowledge a love between them but it seems that they are still not at the place where they can be my favorite actual “couple.” There are parts of me that wonder if they will ever be able to make the transition from the best of friends to lovers, but I am rooting for them nonetheless. Adding to the intriguing mystery and the way Tean and Jem are burrowing into my heart was the excellent narration of this book. J.F. Harding does a good job emoting and bringing these characters to life.

Getting To Know You . . .

This is the second book for Jem & Tean. They continue to have a very “complicated” relationship. According to Jem, they are “best friends.” According to Tean, they are “regular friends” They are both wrong and Ammon is still a fly in the ointment. In this book we really get to know Jem & Tean better. We meet their respective families, and there are some twists there. Neither man is perfect and it becomes a little clearer as to why. But it also comes through that they care very much for each other and clearly still needs to work on their relationship. We even get to know Ammon a little better, but I still hate him. The mystery revolves around helping a friend of Tean and it has the action, twists and red herrings GA is famous for. And once again, I did not see the bad guy AT ALL. How does he keep doing that? J.F. Harding is just a superstar voice performer and he really delivers here.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.

Why can't Ammon get murked and/or chewed on by wild things?

I'm deeply entrenched in this series, and i ADORE every bit of J.F. Harding narration i've heard, However I'm deducting one star because I truly loathe Ammon and really do not understand why on god's green Tien is still letting him rasp out his manipulative bullS&#*t. so much so that I found myself getting truly actively frustrated more than once listening to this book. Not trying to sound like a total nut job but honestly I was so frustrated at one point that I almost cried ha ha. Jem It's so clearly the better choice that it would be laughable If I wasn't filled with utter disappointment with the fact that Jem doesn't repeat the things that Ammon says to him about Tien, or better yet why he doesn't record him saying the horrible horrible garbage that comes out of his shitty mouth. Also, Does anyone remember in the first book, when Tien confessed to Jem that he has to get completely trashed on Everclear just to be able to have sex with Ammon because it's the only way that he can stand the things that Ammon is into? And that's followed up with Jem noticing "bloody bits of toilet paper in the bathroom" when he goes in to check on Tien after his totally creepy seeing by Ammon? wow. just wow. I'm kind of blown away that that wasn't revisited in this book. Because that It's not OK on ANY planet. Come on boys, tighten up your game and get this asshole to kick rocks for good. Because I honestly don't know if my nerves can take it if he doesn't get gone at some point in the next book.

Really Satisfying!

Gregory Ashe is such an engaging writer. I love both Tean and Jen equally, but for completely different reasons. They balance each other in ways they don’t even understand. Their interactions even in dire situations is so entertaining, I was finding myself rewinding to experience them again. I can’t say enough good things about the narrator, JF Harding. His interpretation of all the characters had me so engrossed from the beginning of book one, but it’s his way of handling Jem and Teancum’s relationship that was absolutely touching and believable. I will be relishing book 3 as I know Mr Ashe will create a very satisfying conclusion. Bravo!

Worth the wait

Man I love this series. It's my fave of the eight thousand Gregory Ashe series I've read. The humor balances out the super depressing bits. I couldn't take the suspense and just read this and the next book on my Kobo, but it's not the same as listening to J.F. Harding. There are narrations that are fine, you can read a book and do your laundry and it's convenient. Then there are narrations that just make the book amazingly three dimensional and this is one of those. The character voices are perfect.

There will never be enough Jem and Tean!

**Audio reread/listen October 2021**

I already loved Jem & Tean fiercely but listening to all my favorite moments with them *which, to be clear, is all of them* just locks them up even tighter inside my heart. JF Harding has both their hilariousness and their heartbreak down flawlessly. I can't get to the next one fast enough. 🥰

Disclaimer: A copy of the audiobook was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars. Killing me, Ashe is killing me!! *Notice that I write this as I have already run to the next book*

There is nobody in fiction who can play the tension in his stories like Gregory Ashe. And please understand that when I say this, it's not necessarily a good thing. 🙄 I love Jem and Tean so much already. I dunno, maybe I'm predisposed to love any of Ashe's characters? Or loathe them completely. 🤬 Either/or. But GA writes his soft-hearted, perplexing, mule-headed men in a way that they are irresistible to me.

I'm not even going to comment *much* on the development of the relationship between these two. The frustration part, that is a given. The most frustrating part is how they fit each other. So well, even the parts of them that shouldn't, can't, won't fit, they fit each other perfectly. The times that they're on page together is so damn entertaining, I can't take it. They make me laugh, oh my God. Then they break my heart. *sigh* The best-friend banter is excellent, and I love their dynamic together.

The crime/investigation part of the story is always compelling, and this was no exception. However, this time there were parts that were damn scary. And not just in the physical sense. Both Tean and Jem have endured so much emotional abuse in their lives, though in much different ways. Sometimes I wonder how much they can endure before they break. I'm so, so grateful that they found each other, because they truly do help each other through.

Already reading the next one, and I can already tell it's going to be rough. 😬 But it will be worth it.

Great story

Tean and Jem are great characters. The others are done well. Enjoy the setting of Utah even with the LDS characters involved. Narration was fabulous.
