Resumen del Editor

Living among the Sachakan rebels, Lorkin does his best to learn about them and their unique magic. But the Traitors are reluctant to trade their knowledge for the Healing they so desperately want, and while he assumes they fear revealing their existence to the world, there are hints they have bigger plans.

Sonea searches for the rogue, knowing that Cery cannot avoid assassination forever, but the rouge's influence over the city's underworld is far greater than she feared. His only weakness is the loss of his mother, now locked away in the Lookout.

In Sachaka, Dannyl has lost the respect of the Sachakan elite for letting Lorkin join the Traitors. The Ashaki's attention has shifted, instead, to the new Elyne Ambassador, a man Dannyl knows all too well.

And in the University, two female novices are about to remind the Guild that sometimes their greatest enemy is found within.

Also listen to the first book, The Ambassador's Mission.

Slow but good

The book starts very slow. Ends very exciting. It seems like some of the main characters are a bit slow. That was frustrating.

Trudi canavan at her best

I thought that richard aspel was really good, the story is classic canavan in that she knows how to write and sculpt her characters and the worlds that she has created. The rouge is a great follow up to the black magician trilogy

mystery and intrigue

This book was a lot better I finish it in record time.I can hardly wait for the next book. The Rogue, the second book in Trudi Canavan's Traitor Spy Trilogy, picks up right where The Ambassador's Mission left off.Since anyone thinking about reading The Rogue has surely read the preceding book, I'm not going to delve into the plot much. Suffice to say, all the old cast of characters are back and Canavan introduces one new face, Lilia - a budding magician trying to fit in.The book ends with two cliff hangers and The only bad thing I can say about this book is that now I have to wait eight months for the next one to come out!!!!

read the trilogy in order

Great Trilogy, I liked all three books. However, you need to read the Black Magician Trilogy first to get alot of the background needed to understand/follow the back story.

Captavating! Great trilogy!

Captavating! Great trilogy for those who love mystical and magical storylines.

I really like Trudi Canavan's writing. She takes the time to build the story allowing the reader to get to know the characters well.

Richard Aspel also does a wonderful job narrating.

Grammar, Grammar, Grammar

Ok. I have to finally say something about this problem. When did writers and editors become so lazy? And when did "Other Person's name and I" become the default phrase, even when it's clearly wrong? Would you say "She'll wait for I"? Of course not! Then why do I so often see "She'll wait for you and I "? That's clearly wrong. When did authors and editors get so lazy they neglect to apply this simple test to all compound subjects in sentences?

Ok. Enough. Otherwise this is a good story and it is well read.

Truly Trudi Canavan!

I've listened or read all the books of the Australian Fantasy writer, Trudi Canavan. The Traitor Spy Trilogy is set in the same world than the Black Magician Trilogy for which she received a lot of acclaim.

The Rogue is the second book in the Traitor Spy Trilogy after the Ambassador's Mission (also available at Audible). The story that takes place a few years after the Black Magician Trilogy. Sonea, the heroine of the previous series, is back. Yet it seems that Lorkin, her son, plays a more important role in this series.

You might experience a bit of deja vu. Like the Black Magician Trilogy, there is both hetero- and homo-sexual romance. Canavan's foreshadowing of events is sometimes so blatant that you can see what is coming more than a mile away. It wish she would use a bit more misdirection to ensure that the story doesn't be come too predictable. I knew Lorkin is going to learn black magic at some stage from book one in the series.

Yet, she was able to introduce the characters in such a way that you would like to hear more of them. I do enjoy this fantasy universe.

Richard Aspel is a good interpretative reader, yet if you've heard Samantha Bond read the abridged versions of the Black Magician Trilogy, you might also feel that the wrong person is performing these books. Yet he does a fair job and keeps your attention. So maybe I am a little unfair towards him by giving his performance a 3. If I could give 3 and a half, I would have.

If you like Trudi Canavan's way of writing, and read/listened through the Black Magician Trilogy, the single volume, the Magician's Apprentice and the Ambassador's Mission (the first book of the Traitor Spy Trilogy) you will enjoy this book. However don't fall in here in the universe that Canavan has created. I do worry a little bit about the predictability that is surfacing in Canavan's writing. May the third book put my worry to rest.

Better than The Ambassador's Mission

While this is better than The Ambassador's Mission, it's still a read for a day that you REALLY don't want to think. The plot is blatantly obvious, with the only twists and turns being "When is this thing that is obviously going to happen, going to happen?" That being said, I will probably get the next book, because I am addicted to the characters, and the ending on this book left me wanting to know who is going to die. :)

Good addition, but not extra-ordinary

Was The Rogue worth the listening time?

This book is about the same as the last one in the series - it is not terrible, but it isn't extraordinary either. It is a good continuation of the story but you won't find any great action scenes, intrigues or the like. It just continues the story. I wouldn't say it is a bad read - just not an exciting one. It did keep my interest throughout. It is definitely not a waste of a credit, but don't expect A Song of Ice and Fire greatness or The Wheel of Time greatness from it. After reading it, I would listen to the next one in the series.
