Everyone deserves a chance to live again.

In 2175, scientists race to be the first to resurrect humans in an effort to supplement the population on the long-settled planet of Meritus.

Human resurrection is a dream SJ shared with her scientist father, but he passed away before witnessing it. After finishing the final stages of her bird resurrection trials, she is on track to complete the goal, except for one thing.

She has run out of money.

Due to a political misstep, her research lab lost its funding, and her bank refused to extend her loan.

When she turns to her rich and famous new boyfriend, Cole, for help, he offers a unique proposal, which she accepts, believing the reward of a revitalized life justifies any cost.

Blinded by her need to succeed, she ignores her best friend Kate’s warning against the strange arrangement. After all, Cole’s shipping business supplies the world with products, so why not new life for the dead?

What could go wrong?

The Resurrection of SJ is an entertaining and thought-provoking read that works on multiple levels. It can be enjoyed as speculative fiction on its own, but for readers familiar with the Bible, it offers a fresh and imaginative way of exploring themes like good versus evil, free will, redemption, and spiritual warfare. Seeing biblical ideas reframed through compelling characters and moral tension made them feel new and engaging rather than abstract, and the story lingered with me long after I finished. I also appreciated the audiobook version—the author’s narration added warmth and depth, and it felt especially meaningful to hear the story in her own voice. I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys fiction with depth or is interested in seeing spiritual themes explored in a creative, accessible way.
