A novel about relationships. Else Hagmo and Hans Olav Eriksen, two single people unite for a common project. They have both been involved in a complicated police investigation, albeit from their own point of view.
Else has recently taken over a disused small farm and has good help from Hans Olav to do preliminary work to restore the place.
Else becomes involved in environmental crime when large piles of rubbish are dumped in the driveway of her small farm. It will be a battle against the authorities where the only thing that will happen is that she will be notified of hefty daily fines until the rubbish is removed. She is contacted by beach cleaners who do not get through to the authorities in order to be supplied with funds for the clean-up. The authorities underestimate the explosiveness of people's involvement in environmental crime
Their relationship develops through their common interest, and as long as Hans Olav is on leave from the police, helping Else is fine. He is engaged in some assignments with environmental crime, but it is not satisfactory.
Fate binds them together and they become closer together and prefer to stay in the settlement, even after the sheriff's office is closed down.
