Rather disappointing

More about author than Henry Aaron. While I greatly admire Mr Aaron (the man then the baseball player) and Mr Moore,, this turns out to be much more about Mr Moore and challenges he faced than Henry. I grew tired of the repeated use of the terms “Dixiecrats “ and “the Hank Aaron Whisperer”. Both used dozens of times.

The performance included the mispronunciation of many names.

Guess there was little editing of both the performance and the book itself.

Terrence Moore's The Real Hank Aaron, a Hammer

I loved The Real Hank Aaron by Terrence Moore. It was well written without becoming a litany of boring statistics. His two decades plus relationship with Hammer gave me insight into Hank Aaron's thoughts, skill, community concerns and business acumen. I was around Mr. Aaron and his wife on several occasions, and always wondered what the rest of the story was. Moore's beyond the field telling of Hank Aaron's challenges as an Atlanta Braves executive confirmed much of what I thought was true. Now I know. It was Hank who developed players on the farms-- players that brought pennants and world championships to the Braves franchise. My rating for Overall rating for Story is a five. The performance would have received a five as well were it not for a few mispronounced words and misplaced pauses. I may have been super sensitive on those points because I am an African American Southern woman.
I was born in the late fifties and baseball was a passion of my dad's. My interest grew as I got older. A love of history that included Negro League baseball and all of what we as Black people built for ourselves gets the nod for how I see, read and hear our stories told. Thank you Terrence Moore.
