Edgar Allan Poe
"The Raven" is an appropriately supernatural poem for the Halloween period. First published in 1845, it has long been a favorite of Edgar Allan Poe enthusiasts.
Expertly voiced by Phillip J. Mather, this performance brings a musicality to the language of the poem, luring the listener into the desolate scene and keeping him spellbound as the tale unfolds.

What made the experience of listening to The Raven the most enjoyable?
I have to say that Mather's voice is like butter. Smooth and rich to listen while relaxing. I could listen to him all day. Glad to know he has recorded several other works. What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
What can one say? It is Poe!What does Phillip J Mather bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brings it to life. Audio books have a way of helping the brain paint a picture, at least for me. I have purchased a few that were a bother to get through because the person's voice just didn't click with the story. I suspect Mr. Mather could read a telephone book and make it sound interesting. Pleased as punch to have discovered him.Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes it was.Any additional comments?
I have looked at the other texts that this reader has done and will purchase a couple I would not have before because of who is reading it. Thanks!Mather's voice
