The Queen of the Strip

When her father is killed by a stray bullet,Rita Jackson inherits a saloon on the Arizona Strip called the Golden Palace. Gaining courage from the Arizona Kid, whom she meets while riding on a train he robs, Rita takes control of the saloon and becomes a match for the local outlaws and turns it into the most popular spot in town. But before long, she is entangled in a mess of trouble--the town is raided and her cattle stampeded, but the lure of the strip lives on.... Rita stared steadily at Nebraska. "I said let the girl go, mister. She's one of my ladies. I'm Rita Jackson, the owner of the Golden Palace." Nebraska watched Rita closely, his eyes narrowing. He pulled the girl nearer and growled: "I don't give a dang who you are. I say she goes, and who's going to stop me?" The words were barely out of his mouth when a gun blasted and a small hole appeared in the lobe of his left ear. His hand went up to feel that side of his face and the wounded ear. Blood began to trickle through his fingers and drop onto his black neckerchief. His eyes widened when he saw smoke drifting upward from the gun in Rita's hand.
