'The women in this family, we're different....'
Blythe Connor doesn't want history to repeat itself.
Violet is her first child and she will give her daughter all the love she deserves. All the love that her own mother withheld.
But firstborns are never easy. And Violet is demanding and fretful. She never smiles. Soon Blythe believes she can do no right - that something's very wrong. Either with her daughter, or herself.
Her husband, Fox, says she's imagining it. But Violet's different with him. And he can't understand what Blythe suffered as a child. No one can.
Blythe wants to be a good mother. But what if that's not enough for Violet? Or her marriage? What if she can't see the darkness coming?
Mother and daughter. Angel or monster?
We don't get to choose our inheritance - or who we are....
The Push is an addictive, gripping and compulsive listen that asks what happens when women are not believed - and what if motherhood isn't everything you hoped for but everything you always feared?

Soooo good!
As a mother, I totally get how hard parenting is. the way the book was portrayed was so interesting and I absolutely loved how it developed and how it shows the way you end up missing things right before your eyes. It was so well written, like a beautiful puzzle, with all the pieces coming together at the end. Soooo good and highly recommended.

Simply superb. Best book I've read in a year
This is one of those books which will stay with me for a very long time. Quite haunting and almost difficult to read at times but also impossible to put down! I absolutely loved it and the narrator was perfect.

harrowing and riveting
I could not put this down. It's completely gripping. Lots of questions about generational trauma - nature vs nurture.

My least favourite book this year so far.
As I started to listen to this book, I had hopes for a spectacular ending. And yes although the ending is what we were all waiting for, I felt all of the flash backs to Blythe’s mother and grandmother didn’t really go anywhere. I was waiting for something big to happen with the flash backs, and nothing.
Also as a mother of young children it was hard to listen to parts. The playground and the crossing in particular. Both a mother’s worst nightmare.
I chose this book out of a recommendation and really wish I’d not spent my money or time on it.
