Resumen del Editor

Depicting American justice at its best and worst, The Prosecutors lifts the lid off today's legal system with details that are more shocking and graphic than any television show or best-selling novel. Allowed unprecedented access to spend a year inside an urban prosecutor's office, Gary Delsohn provides a riveting, behind-the-scenes look at how America's increasingly overburdened judicial system really functions. Seen through the eyes of the main characters in this true-life drama, John O'Mara, a tough, jaded homicide chief and Jan Scully, an accomplished, former sex crimes prosecutor who is now D.A., The Prosecutors shows us these dedicated public servants at work. The cases they encounter within the year are as shocking as they are indelible.

"The overall lesson of the book is that justice is, in the end, usually done." (Publishers Weekly)

Good listen overall but...

The book follows one major trial and two unrelated events in the course of a year in Sacramento DA's office, with personalities and insights woven into the developments.
The book is fast paced and engaging overall, although at times the author essentially reades the trial transcript and the reading can become dull. The book is particularly a good read for someone interested in becoming a prosecutor or at the very beginning of a legal career. I also recommend this book for working out - the pace is fast and the stories are engaging to keep you going on the eliptical machine.
My one complaint is the book does not offer very much about the politics of the DA's office. (maybe special contractual agreements?) At the core, the book is about lawyers and trial work, not the machinations of the office.
The reading is pleasant enough. The language is crude at times but that is a part and parcel of trial lingo. Overall, it is a good listen for a curious mind.

A great look behind the curtain

It is refreshing to hear a story involving the prosecution and law-enforcement that is fair. This account does not appear to suffer from sensationalist headlines that are anti-law-enforcement.
