Prophetic art is a visual form of prophecy. Prophetic artworks are visual love letters that speak straight to your heart carrying a message from the heart of God to strengthen, encourage and comfort. The ‘marriage’ of art and Spirit is the basis of prophetic art, where the artists attempt to convey messages from the Holy Spirit.

In The Prophetic Artist: Raising an Army of Artists Wendy Manzo shares her lived experience as a prophetic artist in her thesis and 42 of her prophetic paintings along with the stories of their creation.

First, for anyone wondering what a piece of prophetic art might look like and what the artist who created it may have been experiencing. Second, for anyone wondering where this fits in the Bible. And third, for anyone who is creating prophetic art and wondering what they’re doing and why!"

In The Prophetic Artist, Wendy 'marries' Art and Theology. She highlights key moments in the development of prophetic art, a relatively new expression of Christian art, and gives rare insight into how a Christian artist can move in the realm of visual prophecy.

Wendy Manzo shares 18 years of experience painting prophetically and answers questions about prophetic art through 'The Spontaneous Prophetic Artist in the Pentecostal Church', a Thesis presented for the Degree of Master of Arts Christian Studies. Using an autoethnographical research framework, this study contributes to Pentecostal aesthetics by articulating the emerging identity of the prophetic artist in Pentecostalism. By communicating the lived experience of the prophetic artist as an authentic in-context narrative, this study serves as an accessible way of deepening the reader's understanding of spontaneous prophetic art experiences, bearing witness to the role of the Holy Spirit in arts ministries. Christian art is an enduring witness to the Gospel.
